Step stools are incredibly useful in any household, and a simple wooden step stool is easy to build. Here’s a step-by-step guide to creating one that’s both sturdy and stylish.

Materials

Tools Needed

  • Miter saw or circular saw

  • Drill and drill bits

  • Wood clamps

  • Sandpaper or sander

Steps

  1. Cut the Wood Pieces

    • Cut the 1x12 pine board into two pieces for the base (12” x 12”) and the sides (12” x 6”).

    • Cut the 1x6 pine board for the steps (two pieces 12” long).

  2. Assemble the Base

    • Attach the two 12” x 12” pieces together using wood glue and screws, forming the base.

  3. Add the Sides and Step

    • Attach the two 12” x 6” side pieces to the base to create the frame.

    • Attach the 12” x 6” step pieces on top.

  4. Sand and Finish

    • Sand all surfaces smooth and apply the desired finish to protect the wood.
